I am tracking back to your first post on terminal and how that works and will read your later posts on linux, about which I still need to learn a great deal more. I do now have a clearer understanding of what Linux beta is and how it works and secures its system files from the Chrome Os environment. I have only recently broached linux on a chromebook (Acer R13 arm64) and ended up installing KDE, which was a bit silly. So ‘cd /folder’ goes to a linux system folder, and ‘cd ~/folder’ goes to MyFiles/Linux Files. ’ and then back to ‘cd /opt’ and ‘ls’ lists all the files and folders in the opt folder. ‘cd ~/Download’ and ls lists all the folders and files in my new Downloads folder. ls’ listed ‘bin boot dev etc home lib…’ and all the rest. This I discovered by accident… ‘cd /opt’ goes to the linux system destination and then ‘cd. An interesting feature I find is that in terminal I can see either i) All the files and folders in MyFiles/LinuxFiles… or ii) The linux system files. I have arm64 cpu and installing software has been challenging. Now I can now cd ~/Downloads and find folders which have just been downloaded from terminal. I have created a new folder: ‘MyFiles/Linux Files/Downloads’ and changed that to the default folder for downloads. Thanks for that – I’ve been spending time in the terminal and getting to terms with installing software for Linux, (previous experience of command line DOS 30+ yrs ago). (An alternative method is simply to type chrome://settings in your browser.) Then click the 3-dot button at the top right of the browser and select Settings from the drop-down menu that appears. To modify the location of your downloads now, just open the Chrome browser on your Chromebook. I verified this in both the Chrome OS 89 Stable Channel and Chrome OS 91 Dev Channel on different devices. They’re now in the Chrome browser settings. I believe at some point last year the user-customizable setting for the default download location was moved out of the Chrome OS settings. Previously, he had them stored automatically in Google Drive and with the Chrome OS 90 Beta Channel he’s using, that’s no longer happening. The specific issue this reader was having is that when using the Screen Capture tool in Chrome OS, his screenshots and videos are being saved to his Downloads folder. Here’s how to change the Downloads folder to Google Drive or another location on a Chromebook. However, as Google continues to break apart Chrome OS and the Chrome browser, that method no longer works. In the past, you could modify this in the Chrome OS settings. Here’s how to do it.I got an interesting email question from a reader this weekend having to do with changing the default location where files are downloaded on a Chromebook. You can select a different location for saving files but it doesn’t change the default Downloads folder path in Windows. This is where apps download files to by default. 2 Change default download location on Edge chromium. Change the default file download path for Edge using selenium. I want to create an extension in order to change the download folder for a specific download. Another auto-folder in Windows is the Downloads folder. Im try this code in chrome driver.SetPreference 'faultdirectory', 'C:Folder' driver.SetPreference 'download.directoryupgrade', True. I just started to develop chrome extensions. You can take screenshots in Windows 10 via the Win+ PrntScrn key and they save to the Screenshots folder. However, you may not want to save your downloads there. The “ Screenshots” folder in Windows 10 is a good example of such a folder. Windows has a dedicated folder to hold downloaded content, appropriately called the Downloads folder. Well, if you have a secondary storage drive then moving your Downloads folder to that drive will help you save some space and keep your operating system’ drive (e.g C:\) for apps only.Īctually you can move any personal folder (e.g Images, Documents, Videos, …) – not only Downloads – to any directory you want using this method – if you like. Each user have his own folders, and “ Downloads” folder is one of them! Do you have an SSD drive and are worried to run out of space because the “Downloads” folder is just getting bigger and bigger?Īs we all know every Windows comes with default folders, we call them “ Personal folders” as they are located inside the User’s folder (e.g C:\Users\pc).
